Meet Lisandra
I'm Lisandra Rickards, the CEO of the Branson Centre of Entrepreneurship – Caribbean, a business accelerator that helps growth-stage companies attract the investment they need to scale. This is my dream job, but it took three years and countless attempts to figure it out.

I used to think that designing a life meant maximizing on salary, job title, or intellectual challenge. But maximizing on those things led to emptiness and feeling that I was living someone else's life. To design a life that reflected my true self, I had to start with understanding what made me come alive.

After graduating from Harvard Business School during the Recession, I had no idea what to do next.  I tried a lot of jobs, but you don't have to. I've compiled everything I've learnt to give you a short-cut to your Soul Career.

Soul Seeker Case Studies

I interned with Lisandra during college, and we had many discussions about my career path. I wanted to be an investment banker, but I wasn't sure that the hours and the lifestyle matched my personality. I knew I wanted stability and great opportunities, but Lisandra cautioned me to make sure that I paid attention to my love of the arts and foreign languages.

In the end I ended up choosing a middle ground - a client facing consulting role in the Treasury Services department of a bank - and I'm so happy I did. I have great hours, I’m challenged to think creatively and I get to meet my clients face to face. Best of all, I have time to pursue my interests outside of work. I'm so glad I didn't become an investment banker.

I find it hard to find people who give me valid critiques in my professional life. Many people seem to approach my professional development by telling me I have to be more serious or conform more and I’ve had a hard time hearing them. Many times I feel like I am completely misunderstood.

The Soul Career team has renewed my faith that I am not a lone unicorn and that there are people who can get me and provide me the guidance that I have been looking for.

Tamaisha, United Nations

I found myself in the world of management consulting and although this was sold as one of the best landing points after college, I found that I wasn’t truly happy and felt unfulfilled. Lisandra helped me to dig deeper into myself and look for a more creative role. She also helped me to stop treating interviews like examinations and let my personality shine through, pitching myself in a way that truly highlights my fit.

Because of Soul Career I found a role that nourishes my creative as well as my analytical abilities and now I’ll be working in retail real estate in Los Angeles and Paris, doing the kind of innovative work that energizes me!

Before business school, I was a successful tech account executive, but was tempted to become a consultant, hedge fund guy, or venture capitalist. I was encouraged to do personality tests, asked mindful questions, and was guided through the application and interview processes for my top companies. I realized I was happiest and most productive staying in tech sales. As a result, I landed my dream opportunity at Facebook.
